It was brought to my attention by a reader (Peloton25) that this story actually has some holes in it. He has studied the histories of all 106 McLaren F1s for more than a decade and is quite knowledgeable on these rare supercars. Because of his knowledge, he was able to point out that this car does not have zero miles, as that would be impossible. Each McLaren F1 left the factory with more than 100 miles on the odometer due to a very thorough shakedown. Also, if this car was ever serviced, the technician is required to drive them to test all of the systems on the vehicle. Peloton25 says that the current odometer on this car is more likely to sit at around 300km instead, which is not a lot at all for a McLaren F1, but it most certainly is not zero miles.
Huge thanks to Peloton25 for the info on this! We always want to be as factual as possible, and sometimes it takes a knowledgeable reader to help us out.
In 1992, McLaren shocked the world with the McLaren F1 – one of the greatest supercars ever created. Whenever a car company plans on making a supercar, they should look at the F1 just to see how to properly create one.
That being said, it has been almost 20 years since the last F1 was created with only 106 being produced in total. So, you would imagine that every single one out there has racked up a few miles. I mean, who could own such a car and not be tempted to drive it?
Well, there is always an odd one out, and this time it happens to be a Japanese man who owns a McLaren F1 with zero miles. Zero, zilch, nada, none. This F1 was imported directly to Japan and has since been in an “unwrapped” state, waiting to be either driven or sold.
The owner has opted to not drive the million dollar car, and instead sell it in its pristine condition. A price was not given on the car, but we can assume that it is going to cost a pretty penny. How much do you think this car will fetch? Leave your guess in the comments below!
